Statement

JAAB is an open access journal. All published articles can be read and downloaded online without charge, subscription, or registration. Each article may be reused under the licence stated on its article page. The journal makes research in applied accounting and business freely available to academics, researchers, practitioners, government, and the public.

Immediate Access, No Embargo

Articles become freely available as soon as they are published online. JAAB applies no embargo period, and past issues remain freely available in the archive. Articles will not later be placed behind a paywall or registration requirement.

Free Access and Reuse Rights

Two separate things make an article open:

Free access to read

Anyone can view the abstract and full text and download the PDF at no cost, without logging in.

This concerns reading only. On its own, it does not give permission to reuse the work.

Reuse rights under the licence

Permission to share and adapt comes from the licence displayed on each article page. JAAB articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0). It allows copying, redistribution, and adaptation for any purpose, provided that the original is properly attributed and that adaptations are shared under the same licence.

What Readers and Users Can Do

Authors' Rights

Authors keep the copyright in their articles. Each article page shows "Copyright (c) [year]" followed by the authors' names. Under the article licence, authors may deposit and share the published version freely, for example in institutional repositories, on personal websites, and on academic profiles, provided they cite the original publication in JAAB.

No Conflicting Restrictions

  • The journal does not use paywalls, access tokens, or technical measures such as DRM to restrict published articles.
  • No one who reuses JAAB content, including third-party platforms, may add legal terms or technical measures that prevent others from doing what the licence allows.
  • Material in an article that is credited to a third party and marked as excluded from the licence is not covered by these reuse rights.

Cost of Open Access

Readers pay nothing to access JAAB. Information on fees charged to authors after acceptance is given on the Author Fees page.
